der silberne Kugelschreiber Book Review
Angelika Bohn, reached out to me to write a review of “Der silberne Kugelschreiber” and “Falsche Adresse“. I can’t turn down free books, so I agreed.
“Der silberne Kugelschreiber”
When I read “Der silberne Kugelschreiber” I assumed it was going to be another one of those cheesy predictable German readers that you force yourself through just to attempt to learn some German vocabulary. I was mistaken. From the first chapter on, this book grabbed my attention and kept it. I followed each and every twist that it threw at me. Just when I thought I had it figured out, it would send another twist my way.
It is a fantastic book, but more than that, it can actually teach you German. It is so well written that I forgot that I was reading a German reader. The vocabulary is exactly what an A1 or A2 learner needs. The story flows so well that I rarely even thought about the fact that I was reading something meant to be for German learners. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend it to anyone learning German or even anyone who wants to read a great book.
What to expect when reading books by Angelika Bohn
After reading “Der silberne Kugelschreiber” I thought I knew what to expect from Angelika Bohn. I was wrong again. It started out mysteriously and with each chapter I read, I couldn’t stop reading. I finished this book in under 2 days. For a guy that has a full time teaching job, a YouTube channel, a 4 year old, and a dog, that is astounding. I don’t have time to read. I found the time to read this book, because I couldn’t put it down.
Now when my students ask me why I didn’t grade their papers yet, I will tell them to blame Angelika Bohn. If she weren’t such a fantastic writer, I would have been able to grade papers. I couldn’t put this book down from the time I picked it up. When I thought I had this story figured out at about half way through… BAM! I was hit with another twist that changed my whole paradigm. This book is perfect for the A2/B1 German learner and is entertaining from the first page to the last.
