Giveaway: Beginner German with Herr Antrim E-Book Anniversary

This calls for a celebration! In just over a week, my e-book “Beginner German with Herr Antrim” will be 1 year old. To celebrate, I am giving away 5 copies of the e-book and one lucky person will get an huge grand prize.

    Who needs this e-book?

First, however, I want to explain what you will be getting if you win a copy of my e-book or you buy one from my website. I wrote “Beginner German with Herr Antrim” for anyone who is just starting to learn German and needs guidance. It is especially helpful for those learning on their own or those who don’t have a formal class to attend. It starts with pronunciation and goes until you can hold a short, simple conversation. If you follow my e-book, use the additional materials that go with it properly and supplement with some study on your own, you will get through the A1 level of German in no time.

    More Than Just a Book

For almost every lesson in the e-book there is a worksheet with an answer key, so you can practice what you learned in that lesson. There are mp3 files that are only available if you download the e-book, so you can practice the pronunciation and also so you can listen to the dialogues that are written within the book.

This e-book goes really well with Herr Antrim’s 3 hour long video course, as it follows the same curriculum. You can watch that video for free here.

How to Get the Most Out of “Beginner German with Herr Antrim”

I mentioned “using the materials properly”. My recommendation would be as follows: Read a chapter in the book. Take notes on the chapter as you read. Write down what you think is important. Then practice what you learned in that chapter. If it is the pronunciation chapter, try repeating the words as you listen to the mp3 that is available for that portion of the book. If it is a chapter that comes with a worksheet, try the worksheet after you have read the chapter. Check your answers with the answer key. The next day, reorganize your notes that you wrote while you read the last chapter. Rewrite them so that they look good and you can use them as a reference for later. If you need to, reread the chapter. Do this for every chapter.

    Additional Recommended Resources

When you learn something new, go to the resources listed at the end of the book (separated by chapter). There you will find recommended YouTube videos that can add to the lessons in the book. Most of the video links are not from my channel, but rather, channels that I know and trust. Each one has something special that they can teach you that I don’t.

    Online Flashcards

At least once a week go to the Quizlet flashcards that are available with the e-book and practice what you learned in the most recent chapter or in previous chapters.

Once you have done all of that, you are ready to move on to the next chapter. If you finish the e-book, but you are not able to understand the final conversation without looking at the translation, you need to study the vocabulary from the flashcards or reread chapters that you didn’t remember as well as the others. It might not be a bad idea to redo the worksheets that go with each chapter at this stage, too.

    The Giveaway

To celebrate the 1 year anniversary since the release of my e-book, I am giving away 5 copies of it. All you have to do to enter the contest is leave a comment on the video at the top of this post telling me why you want to learn German and your personal tip for anyone learning a new language.

In addition to the 5 e-books, one lucky winner will gain access to my entire library of extra materials. This includes over 70 worksheets with answer keys, mp3 versions of all of the lessons I have created in the past couple of years. Included within that are all four of my master classes about the accusative, dative and genitive cases and the present tense

How to Know If You Won the Giveaway

I’ll announce the winners of this giveaway on August 1st. You need to leave the aforementioned comment on the video by July 31, 2020. Since all of these materials are electronic, you should be able to access your prizes within a couple of days of the announcement. Unfortunately a few years ago YouTube removed the feature that allowed creators to send private messages to viewers, so you will have to watch the announcement video in order to know if you won, as I may not be able to find a way to contact you depending on what information is available on your channel page.

    Upcoming Awesomeness from Herr Antrim

While you are here, let me tell you about some exciting things I have planned. First, that e-book that I am giving away “Beginner German with Herr Antrim”, will soon be available as a paperback book. I’ll make an announcement about that once it becomes official, but I am still working on the formatting for that, so it will still be a few months before you can get a physical copy of my book.

Speaking of books, I’m writing another one. It isn’t a sequel to the beginner book, but I think a lot of you will like it. Again, once I am ready to release that, I’ll give you more details about that project.

Where to Get “Beginner German with Herr Antrim”

If you don’t win this giveaway, or you are reading this after the giveaway has ended, there are still several other ways to get Herr Antrim’s beginner German e-book. You can download it from his online store here. If you prefer Amazon, you can buy it there, too, but you will have to download the extra materials separately, as Amazon won’t allow me to attach them to the e-book download.
